Data Engineer and Fullstack Developer

  • Developed site-wide funnel and event tracking system, capturing over 1M events per month.

  • Implemented anonymized A/B-testing framework to enable rapid goal-tracking and reporting.

  • Performed quarterly data analysis on site traffic, user behavior, and partner integrations, generating actionable recommendations for web designers and product owners.

Bioinformatician at EMBL-EBI – Sanger Wellcome Trust Campus, UK

Jul 2012 – May 2014

  • Worked with international collaborators to help add over 30,000 genomic datasets to a bioinformatics SaaS research tool accessed by tens of thousands of users.

  • Developed custom map-reduce algorithms in Perl and Python to efficiently process proteomics and metabolomics data using Platform LSF pipelines.

  • Developed REST APIs used by thousands of researchers, accessing data from multiple datastores, including MySQL, Oracle, Neo4J, and MongoDB.

  • Developed ML algorithms for protein function prediction and metabolomic network inference.

Bioinformatics Research Assistant at Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, Virginia Tech

  • Reduced microarray analysis costs by implementing novel statistical methods for quantifying uncertainty sample data using C and the GNU Scientific Library.
